Novel Grafis: Studi Awal Tentang Istilah dan Bentuk

Mohammad Hadid

Abstract

This article would like to begin a short study
on the term ‘graphic novel’. As we can see, the term
is problematic. Most arguments shaped around
‘graphic novel’ clearly show that the works have
been regarded as a part of literature, while the
others have been considered the term as a form
of sequential art which has lengthened story. The
aim of this article, then, is to deconstruct the term
‘graphic novel’ by pointing out the weaknesses, both
through the meaning of the term and also by means
of the discourses that have been strengthened with
some episteme built with the essence to justify the
meaning of graphic novel amidst the discourses of
sequential art

Keywords

raphic novel, sequential art, literature, episteme
