Menggabungkan Seni, Ilmu Pengetahuan, dan Teknologi: Eksplorasi HONF Terhadap Batas-batas Ekologi dan Ilmu Pengetahuan

Irene Agrivina Widyaningrum, Gilang Wahyu Apriliawan

Abstract

Combining Art, Science, And Technology: HONF's Exploration of Ecological and Scientific Frontiers

ABSTRACT

The House of Natural Fiber (HONF), established in 1999 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is an innovative art collective combining art, science, and technology to tackle pressing social, environmental, and cultural issues. HONF’s projects, including "Galactica V.2 Dharma Garden" and "Immaculate Virtue," exemplify a cross-disciplinary approach incorporating data visualization, artificial intelligence, environmental art, and neuroscience. "Galactica V.1-2.1 Dharma Garden" reimagines the connections between spirituality, ecosystems, and sustainability, using speculative eco-art and AI to model ecological systems. "Immaculate Virtue" employs AI and neurofeedback to represent spiritual purity, transforming audience interaction into dynamic, immersive experiences. Both works address ecological concerns, emphasize sustainability, and explore how art influences cognition and emotion. HONF's projects highlight their dedication to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration, empowering communities, and expanding the horizons of contemporary art practice.
